The Holidays and You

By Ethan Ames

My favorite time of year is here. It is the time when families are getting together for holidays, friends are throwing seasonal parties, and you can see snow falling in the mountains. This is also the time of year that most Americans will gain an average of 7-10 pounds in just a two month period! I know that I am guilty of indulging a little this time of year, it is hard not too. With all the cookies, Christmas and Thanksgiving feasts, egg nog, and other delicious treats being so abundant it is tough to moderate your consumption. If you are anything like most Americans, you will probably end up regretting eating so much and the associated weight gain. So, with that in mind here are some tips and hints for you to stay trim and still be able to enjoy yourself.

1)If you are going to a holiday party, eat before you go. You can cook yourself something healthy to eat at home very easily. Simply check some of the other blog posts on this page for starters. When you eat a meal before you go to the party you are going to be far less likely to over eat on foods that are bad for you.

2)Make sure that you still maintain your body through regular exercise.  It is recommended that the average American adult does at least 20 minutes of cardio three times a week. This is only one hour a week to look and feel better. Science shows us over and over again that regular exercise helps to fight depression and other ailments by increasing that feel good hormone endorphins and dopamine in our bodies.

3) You don’t have to swear off enjoying the foods that are a traditional part of this season. Just practice moderation, and always remember that you owe it to yourself to look and feel your best. In the end it comes down to your power over yourself. If you can work on mastering yourself you will find true happiness.

4)If you end up still wanting/needing to lose weight, be sure to try hCG. The average user reports weight loss of up to 20 pounds in as little as 21 days.

Be your best self today, for tomorrow.
